Ask three people to look out the same window at a busy street corner and tell you what they see. Chances are you will receive three different answers. Each person sees the same scene, but each perceives(察觉)something different about it. Perceiving goes on in our minds. Of the three people who look out the window, one may say that he sees a policeman giving a motorist a ticket. Another may say that he sees a rush-hour traffic jam at the intersection. The third may tell you that he sees a woman trying to cross the street with four children in tow(拉着). For perception is the minds's interpretation of what the senses?in this case our eyes?tell us. Many psychologists today are working to try to determine just how a person experiences or perceives the world around him. Using a scientific approach, these psychologists set up experiments in which they can control all of the factors. By measuring and charting the results of many experiments, they are trying to find out what makes different people perceive totally different things about the same scene.
  56. Perceiving is an action that takes place . A. in our eyes. B. only when we think very hard about something. C. only under the direction of a psychologist. D. in every person's mind.
  57. People perceive different things about the same scene because . A. they see different things. B. they can not agree about things C. some have better eyesight D. none of these
  58. Psychologists study perception by . A. setting up many experiments. B. asking each other what they see. C. looking out of windows. D. Studying people's eyes.
  59. The best title for this article is . A. How We See B. Learning About Our Minds Through Science
C. What Psychologists Perceive D. How To Become An Experimental Psychologist
B
My topic is fashion(时装),and to make my talk more lively, I have brought along five objects. Fashion is important to all of us. Now we are all wearing school uniforms(校服). When we go home, what do we do? We change into other clothes. If we are going out, we like to wear fashionable clothes. So my first object is this blouse. It looks beautiful, doesn't it? It is the most expensive piece of clothing, and I love it. It cost over $6
  00. You may say that it is too expensive, but luckily I can afford it. The more you spend, the better the quality is. So you see, fashion is quite important to me, I admire it. However, I'm not as fond of fashion as my elder brother. Last summer, my parents took us both to London. They wanted to show us some famous sights. But my brother Gary did not appreciate the old buildings. He just wanted to spend all his time in the big shopping arcades(拱廊), searching fro the coolest pair of trousers! For him, fashion was more important than culture. These are the trousers he bought. Were they worth the expensive of a trip to London to buy these? I don't think so. I think it was a waste of time and money. We must, however, remember that fashion is a very big business. Changes in fashion can create or lose jobs. As an example, I have bought this blonde(淡黄色的) wig(假发) to show you. Do you like it? It belongs to one of my mother's friends. She told me that in the 1960s, it was fashionable for western women to wear wigs. But a few years later fashions changed and women wore wigs much less often. Then the wig factories closed down and hundreds of workers lost their jobs.
  60. The passage may be . A. a story from a magazine C. a report on the radio A. the blonde wig C. the coolest trousers B. a piece of news from a newspaper D. a speech to the fellow students B. the expensive blouse D. the school uniform

  61. The author showed all these objects EXCEPT in the passage.

62.According to the passage, which of the following is NOT true? A. The author doesn't like fashion as much as her elder brother B. At once time, wearing wigs was fashionable for western women C. Fashion is important to people who like it D. The high the price is, the better the quality is.
  63. What does the author want to tell us in last paragraph? A. B. C. D. Wigs were always popular in the past People in the east once liked wearing blonde wigs Fashion is actually a business Business often depends on the production of wigs.
C
When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible - and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite (胃口) and better sleep patterns. "People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness," says Dr. Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. " So it can help save on the wear and tear on .our system and allow people to feel more energetic." So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, someone you love. Don' t wait for an apology. "Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing," says Dr. Luskin. "They may have wanted to hurt yo
