Unit3,L3 Weddings
I feel it an honor to stand here. I `ve been teaching for about 14 years. I know I `m far from excellence. But it`s a chance of challenging and improving myself. I treasure it very much and have made good preparations for it. I`m sure no matter what I can past. I`ll get some practice and make some progress from the experience. My topic is Unit3, the 3rd lesson. I divide my teaching plan into 5 parts.
PART 1 Analysis of the teaching material ?STATUS AND FUNCTION
This lesson is the third of Unit
  3. it’s a reading text. In this lesson , Indonesia wedding and Greek weddings are introduced, and the ceremony of the weddings are different. In Indonesia weddings, you can’t drink alcohol, and in Greek weddings, guests can throw dishes on the floor and put money on the bride’s wedding dress for good luck. Ss can learn more about the weddings after the text.

2?How to form their idea and express themselves in English ?TEACHING KEY POINTS PART 2 Teaching Methods Task-based teaching method as a guide line is applied to the design of this period. To achieve teaching aims above, I employ different kinds of teaching methods as follows:

discussing method 3?Visual-teaching method including picture-showing and videos. PART 3 Analysis of the Ss and learning methods
Ss have learnt English for several years. But their English levels are different from one to the other. I design the lesson to meet their different requirements eg. Set questions of different difficulty levels to make every student active in class. Ss should preview the text before class. As we know, Reading is a key to success in English study. For our students, to have a good command of English reading skill is of great importance. Knowing how to learn is more important than acquiring a lot of knowledge. So I`ll try my best to train them with some effectively by finding clues to grasp the structure of the passage,finding the key sentence of each para, to get a general idea, analyzing the long sentences or sentences with difficult grammatical patterns to help Ss to better understand the entire passage.
PART 4
Teaching procedures
According to New Course Standard of English, Combining with the language level of Ss. I design the following teaching activities to reach the objectives above. Step1 Pre-reading(9 mins) In order to arouse the Ss` interests and motivation of English study. I show some pictures on the screen, ask them to describe what they see and answer the question about Jackson: why did he change his skin colour?Meanwhile, I make a brief introduction about the background of each picture. Through this activity, Ss can easily get involved in one topic of the lesson ?racial discrimination. Then Ss answer the question in Pre-reading. They`ll have a brain storm and give their answers actively. As is known to us all, culture background knowledge plays an critical part in the comprehension of the text. I play two short videos of King`s struggle. Through the videos, Ss get more information about civil rights movement. It is helpful for them to better understand the menaing of the text. It makes the teaching transition seem more smooth and logical. Ss do T&F exercise in pre-reading. The exercise warms up the ss for the next teaching activities.
Step2 While-reading(23mins) Task 1 skimming
Ask Ss to go through the passage quickly and get the main idea of each para. It can help Ss to get a general idea of the text. Point out to the students that the key sentence often appears at the beginning or the end of the attention to the beginning and the end of the paragraph. It can help us to catch the meaning of a passage more easily.
Task 2 scanning
Scan the passage and find out the answers to the questions on the screen. The task requires the Ss to find the detailed information quickly. It helps the Ss understand the whole passage well.
Task3 picture-showing
Present the Ss with a list of pictures about King on the pp. The purpose of it is to let the Ss know more about King`s struggle and maintain their interests in study. We know

that the attention of the Ss has a time limit. In class, we should try every means to generate their interests and attention every now and then.
Task 4 careful-reading
Read the passage carefully. Choose the best answers according to the text. The task is designed to help Ss to get more details from the context. Ss will benefit from it. It can develop their ability of inference based on the information in the text.
Step3 Post-reading(9 mins) Task1 Summarize the passage.
Fill in the form according to time order. The form is served as a guide to help Ss finish the task. In designing this exercise, I bring important events together with wedding ceremony, success. It makes the Ss get a clear outline of the passage.
Ⅰ. Warming up
T:teacher will ask the following questions about weddings to lead into the topic. Have you ever been to a wedding party? Who was getting married? How many people were there? What time did it start/finish? What did they wear? What did people do? Did you have a wonderful time? Present the vow at the wedding to arouse students’ interest of talking about the weddings and have a deeper understanding about wedding in western countries. Do you know the meaning of the vow? 从今天开始,无论顺境、逆境;无论贫穷还是富有;无论健康还是疾病,都不能将 我们分开,直到生命的最后一天。

Ⅲ Reading
Wedding customs are different in different countries. Now we will read two articles : Weddings in Indonesia and Greek weddings,try to remember what to do and what not to

do.(give students time to read the text) Enjoy the pictures about Indonesian Wedding
  1. Present a chart showing what to do and what not to do during the wedding What to do: I can go without an invitation. I can attend the reception after the ceremony. I ought to put money into the box at the entrance of the reception. What not to do: You oughtn’t to go to the ceremony without asking first. You don’t have to contribute a lot of money. You can’t drink alcohol at the wedding reception. Indonesian women don’t have to cover their heads. Enjoy the pictures about Greek Weddings Ask the students to give information about what happens before, during and after the wedding. Before the wedding ceremony The bridegroom has to ask the bride’s father for his daughter’s hand in marriage. During the wedding ceremony The best man should help put crowns made of flowers on the heads of the couple. A long silk ribbon that links the crowns is a symbol of a long and happy life for the couple. After the wedding ceremony The guests can attend a wedding reception. Guests can throw dishes on the floor and put money on the bride’s wedding dress for good luck. The party can last through the night. Do the exercise3 true or false

My lesson plan is designed on the basis of the New Course Standard of English. This period shows that the Ss are center in class while the teacher is an instructor and organizer. In the teaching process , I apply some modern teaching techniques to make the lesson visible, audible, interesting, comprehensive as well as different teaching methods to optimize the Ss’ learning results. The tasks are achieved through the interaction between teacher and Ss. Ss can learn more about King and civil rights movement from this lesson. They can fully develop their reading skills and the ability of reading independently through continuous practicing.

This lesson is the 3rd of Unit
  5. It`s a reading passage.It can be read as a short biography of Kong Xiangdong,who was the most famous classical pianist in the world. His contribution to combining classical music with Chinese folk music.The story did not only help us know more about him but also inspired the Ss to learn more about Chinese folk music. This period is to introduce to the Ss about Kong Xiangdong`s efforts on combining classical music with Chinese folk music. Besides this, it also set Ss an example on how to try their best to reach their goals.
