Parts 1, 2, 4 and 5 remain unchanged Task Part 3 5 questions What candidates have to do Listen and draw lines from pictures to words. Amendments Children only have to draw lines and don’t have to correctly copy days of the week. Pauses between questions have been reduced from 10 seconds to 5 seconds as children no longer have to write words. The layout of the task has been changed to make it easy to draw lines from the pictures to the days. New rubric now reads, e.g.: What did Sally do last week? Listen and draw a line from the day to the correct picture. There is one example.

Children read a story in 3 parts and complete sentences about the story, using 1,2 or 3 words.

Parts 1, 3, and 4 remain unchanged. Task Part 2 What candidates have to do Describe a series of 4 pictures (examiner describes 1st). Candidates not expected to produce a polished narrative; 1 thing about each picture is sufficient. Amendments Children are now told the title of the story by the examiner. Children are now instructed to look at all the pictures. Pictures are enlarged and numbered. (see materials for exact details of layout).

Flyers Listening
Parts 1, 2, 4 and 5 remain unchanged Task Part 3 5 questions 1 example. There is a question to set the context, e.g. What did each person in Mr Salt’s family choose to buy at the new supermarket? And then the new rubric reads: Listen and write a letter in each box. There is one example. What candidates have to do Children listen to a conversation which is mainly led by one speaker. They match a list of illustrated words or names with a set of pictures. Amendments Set of 6 words added to the first set of pictures. There are now two speakers.

Parts 1, 2, 6 and 7 remain unchanged Task Part 3 5 questions What candidates have to do Half of the conversation is supplied. The children have to choose the correct response from a selection and write the corresponding letter in the gap. This is similar to the KET RW task in Part 3 (questions 16-
