Good afternoon, every teacher. Today, I feel honored to have the chance to present some of my teaching ideas to you. My topic is welcome to the unit: The world of our sense. It will include: The analysis of the selected material; Teaching methods; Teaching procedures and blackboard work.. First, let me talk about my understanding of the teaching material.
Part one
Analysis of the teaching material

  1. Status and function This is the first part of Unit 1, Module
  3. This unit introduces and develops the theme of humans and some special senses of animals. In welcome to the unit, students will be presented with a short passage and four pictures about the five senses. By learning this part, students have the chance to gain a better understanding of five human senses.
  2. Teaching aims Based on the analysis of the teaching material, I have chosen the following as the teaching aims.
  1). Encourage students to practice speaking English more
  2) Arouse their interest in learning this unit through activities.
  3). Let them know the importance of senses and hold the correct attitude towards the people who lose one of theirs senses.
  3. Teaching important and difficult points: Encourage the students to share their opinions by fully participating in the discussion in order to realize how they and other people use their senses in their studies and daily life. I’ll also use a record and the multi-media to make my class lovely and interesting.
Part two Teaching methods
From my point of view, the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to develop the student’s abilities of listening ,speaking ,reading ,writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson, I’ll use the following methods to conduct my class:
  1. Discuss impairs or in groups
  2. Communicative teaching method

  3. Audio-visual teaching method
  4. “Task-based” teaching method I’ll also use a record and the multi-media to make my class lovely and interesting.
Part three Teaching procedures
Next are my teaching steps Step 1: Lead-in At the beginning, I’ll come up with following question: With what can we see and hear? How can we know whether a dish is delicious? How can we know that a flower has a pleasant smell? What do we do when we want to know whether the water in the basin is hot or cold? How do we know about the world around us? Step 2: Skimming After the step of Lead-in, it is time for me to get the students to skim the text and answer the question above. The aim is to have the students get the general idea of this passage. Then I’ll let some students come to the f rostrum to fill in the blanks. The five senses are: the sense of sight, the sense of hearing, the sense of taste, the sense of smell and the sense of touch. They enable us to know the world around us. Fill in the blanks We do see hear taste smell touch/ feel Step 3: Discussion
  1. Read the three questions in the short passage and discuss them in groups of four. With eyes ears tongue/ taste buds nose hands/feet/skin the sense sight hearing taste smell touch

  2. Sharing information and observation to the students that we often use one or two of the five senses more than the others when we need to. For example , in the darkness, the sense of hearing and the sense of touch become more sensitive .Because we cannot see anything, when we listen to our favourite music, we may close our eyes and just listen with our ears .when we eat something, we not only taste or smell it, but also look at it as well.
  3. Let one of students report his or her answers to the whole class. Purpose of my design: This step is used here to develop the students’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained. I think proper competition can arouse the students’ interest in learning English. If the students can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in their spoken English. By this step, it achieved the teaching aim of understanding of this lesson. Step
  4: Consolidation : Review the five senses once again and finish the exercises given on show, which, of course are related to the senses. When he got there, he that there was a dark hole.
