To develop the ability to work independently of the teacher,by learning to identify own progress and suggest ways to improve. To develop a systematic recording system of progress in the key language skills and components.
课 前 教 tape recorder, tapes, 师准备 课 前 学 Ask the student on duty to give a short talk 生准备 教 学 进 教 师 活 动 Ⅰ. Warm-up Ask the Ss to give a free talk. ⅡTeaching procedure A Speak up:what you can and cannot do
  1. Talk to ss about situations when they might talk about their own abilities,e.g., Talking with friends , sending e-mails ,talking on ICQ with foreign friends.
  2. Read the conversation to the class.
  3. Present the conversation line by line, focusing on intonation and linking of words.
  4. Ask ss to replace the underlined words with their own information.
  5. Ask some more able pairs to present their own conversations to the class. Useful expressions: . Couls you teach me to …? How do you ….? I wish I could…. Jane is very good at…. I’d like to take lessons. I want to learn how to do that. 程 学 生 活 动 修 改 意 见

  1. Explain the context of this section and the need to keep learning records. Ask ss to think about different learning strategies they use while studying. They can help themselves or ask teachers for help.
  2. Ask ss to look at the headings in the sample record in Part A.
  3. Ask ss to use the chart to make their own learning record. Help ss identify relevant activities for the “What did you study?” section Help them to complete the column “How to improve?”
  4. Allow ss to draw pictures to complete the “Can I do it?” column.
  5. Encourage ss to make commemts about how they feel or felt about the different tasks.
  6. As you walk around the class ,try to identify certain trends and tell the class about what you think they liked, disliked or found difficult.
  7. Ask them whether they agree or disagree. Ⅲ. Sum-up
